CRS (Computer Reservation Systems)
A Computer Reservation System (CRS) is based on a large central Computer, or Mainframe, serving many sites, such as travel agencies and airport offices. A small travel office may have as few as 2 terminals, whereas a busy airline Reservation system centre may have more then 100 Terminals.
GDS (Global Distribution Systems ) such as Amadeus and Galileo provide users with access to airline flight schedules, fare information, hotel reservations, car rentals and various other essential travel data.
These systems provide direct access to the airline's reservation system and provide unbiased displays for more then 300 participating carriers.
